Golf Carts in the
Village of Wakeman
Hello Golf Cart Owners,
As you all know the Village of Wakeman Council has passed an ordinance that will allow golf carts on the roadway as long as they pass an inspection and are properly registered (please see attached). You will only be legally permitted to travel on the 25 mph streets within the Village of Wakeman. Many village residents have expressed concern and have asked about this sudden enforcement of the law when there is a small amount of golf carts within the village. Since I have started with this department almost 10 years ago there has been a large increase in golf cart usage in the Village of Wakeman. Due to this increase we can see that there is a need to monitor this activity and this could possibly prevent future problems. I know this transition will be difficult at first, but we are trying to make this as easy and painless as possible. Most golf carts that I have observed in Wakeman, unfortunately do not display all of the required equipment as listed in the Ohio Revised Code. I understand that some of the additions to make your golf cart legal can be costly, so I am working on some less costly modifications.
